Hi there,

I've often wondered what the different user groups are and what they offer. What are the differences between them?

1: User
2: Admin
3. Moderator
4. Troll
5. Banned
6. Subscriber

I also wondered if it were possible to make a custom group and make this group and its users only able to edit their OWN articles as opposed to being able to delete/edit other articles in the system?

Thanks

Indeed. Another thing for the do list of the upcoming 2.1.17 release. I hope to release it later this month.

I've just tested :

Users => Admin Permissions => Edit => Limited Permission

All it does is give less options to that user within the backend system. With "Limited" I could still edit articles by another author or delete articles which I am not author of.

1: User

Registered users. Can post and edit their own comments

2: Admin

Can access admin control panel and post/edit/delete comments

3. Moderator

Can post/edit/delete comments

4. Troll

Unwanted users. Can post and edit their own comments but the post are invisible to registered users.

5. Banned

Users in the banned group can no longer post comments

6. Subscriber

Subscriber can access content for (paid) subscribers. There is an option (Readable to subscribers only) in the news/articles module for that group

I also wondered if it were possible to make a custom group and make this group and its users only able to edit their OWN articles as opposed to being able to delete/edit other articles in the system?

Users => Admin Permissions => Edit => Limited Permission should do the trick
