Speeding up page load
I worked with tech support many times trying everything that anybody suggest. The site was running fine for a few days then this morning complete failure all
10 sites were down.
Last night when i posted any new article every page on ret-ret we went off line the came back about a minute later to two latter.
I talked to the sever support many time and of course they think it's software.

All nine sites went down again, we were up and running for about 2 hours. I loaded some articles in retirement-retirement.com and it brought down not only ret-ret but all 9 other sites.
The issues came up after we moved hosts are first host was very slow. The real probem seems after any little post either in the forum or a new article, the site gets sick.

Your Xeon server should handle alot more traffic without any problem. The largest Storyteller based website that I know is in the 20 million pageviews range.
When did you noticed the performance issues the first time? After your move or before?

The server is located at a datacenter? If so, you may want to ask a support technican to take a look at the server configuration (my.cnf and httpd.conf) and tweak some settings?
How many pageviews/month is Retriement Retirement generating? You can see this information under Stats/View Stats.

You could give her the password of the first admin account.
Maybe the best is you change the first account to a default admin account that all admins can share. You can edit this account under Users => Edit/Remove in the Storyteller control panel.

I switched my.cnf to the my-medium.cnf.
that went fine
I then went to stop the SQL server and got an error
Also none of our database sites would load
I did a system reboot
Then I switched it back to the my-large.cnf
I still can't shut down and restart the MySQL server, but all our storyteller sites are loading except retirement-retirement
so I'm back where we started!

No, you should see the new configuration.
Here a step by step guide:
1) Switch to the root account
and enter the root password. This step is necessary to allow you to edit system files.
2) Change to the /etc directory and move my.cnf to my.cnf-old
3) Create a new my.cnf and edit it in the nano editor
then copy & paste the above configuration in the editor. Finally press ctrl+X and then Y (+return) to save the new file.
4) Restart the MySQL server. This is not related to the webserver.
Is this a managed server? In this case you should open a support ticket with the company that manages the server and ask a support technican to reconfigure the MySQL server for you.
again, should I get the same results as previously?

I replaced the my.cnf file, then stopped and started the web server. When I run
cat /etc/my.cnf

This is what I get now, after replacing my.cnf:

datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
[mysql.server]

[safe_mysqld]
err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
I replaced the my.cnf file, then stopped and started the web server. When I run
cat /etc/my.cnf
again, should I get the same results as previously?
This is what I get now, after replacing my.cnf:
[webadmin@durig webadmin]$ cat /etc/my.cnf
[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
[mysql.server]
user=mysql
basedir=/var/lib
[safe_mysqld]
err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid

Make a backup of my.cnf and replace it with:
Then restart the MySQL server with: service mysql restart or service mysqld restart (this depends on the installed MySQL version).
Is the performance now better?

We had several tech look at it, partially because we are down so many times, they say the programs is we are using to much resources manly memory to keep the sites up. It's my opinion I've upgraded memory on the move and again with the host. We never went down prior to the move with alot less memory. When I post a simple forum just one the site get sick , I know other esselback forums have 100's if not thousands of visitors at the same time. I wounder if my 3 mouth old site uses more resources than the very big one.
My simple goal is to fix the problem.
something also new when we post articles several words are changed basicly any ' turn in &&^%&*
