Try the following settings under other/config:
Using Cache => Yes
Caching Method => File cache only
Log Referrers => No
Enable Online Users => No
Any reason why this site is not using InnoDB?
Randy:
Is this a managed server? Do you have a server admin?

Speeding up page load
Philipp,
I am helping out Randy with this website and i have set the site up for him. It used the filing cache but i tried it with MySQL cache and without cache at all - it makes no difference.
It was ok on the old server but now its pretty weird.
However, i noticed that the story pages are loading pretty good, when you load a category it takes much more time but it loads either. But when you try the homepage (and it probably has to search the whole database for the stories) it fails completely. All pages without stories are loading instantly. I hope that helps you a bit.

The site www.retirement-retirement.com main page has been frozen all day, I added a forum post and it froze the whole site until the host went, bring down 7 other site. yesterday on a posted article it would get sick for about a hour. Could you help us Laura is trying and we can not reach the builder of the site.

Hello lalawren,
I need a few more details:
1) Which caching system is enabled? You find this information in cadmin under Other/Config => Caching Method
2) Which versions of PHP and MySQL are installed? Is this site using MyISAM or InnoDB tables? You find this information in cadmin as well
3) Please post the hardware configuration of the server (e.g. CPU, Ram, IDE or SCSI HDD etc.)
