rss2 newsfeeds hack?
This was a misunderstanding. I thought that you want add RSS 2.0 feeds to your website and not importing RSS 2.0 from other websites
The current news import feature is fully compatible with RSS 2.0. I assume that allow_url_fopen is disabled in your php.ini. You need to enable this option to allow fopen accessing external websites.

rss2 newsfeeds hack?
I FTP'd both files up to the server as ASCII and I'm still getting
"No XML/RSS newsfeed found. You need to enter the full URL to the newsfeed (e.g. http://www.site/xml/backend.php)"
when i try to add a new rss news feed from another site - (such as http://feeds.smartmoney.com/smartmoney/headlines) - to import news into the news queue
I appreciate your patience! - Is there anything else to try?

It's still not working.
I copied the code into a text editor (TextPad) to get ride of any hidden code or spaces, then re-pasted it into the template editor
Could there be another fix?
Thanks!

Sound like that one of the two templates have a white space character immediately after $EST_TEMPLATE = <<<TEMPLATE which is causing a PHP error.

I changed the templates as noted, then tried the two newsfeeds. I keep getting this error:
No XML/RSS newsfeed found. You need to enter the full URL to the newsfeed (e.g. http://www.site/xml/backend.php)

This could be done by changing the following two templates:
xml_header
xml_output

Hi!
I have feeds I'd like to ad to retirement-retirement.com
however, most are in rss 2.0 now
is there a work around to get the feed to work?
here's sample links to various feeds:
