Question regarding documentation
The standard edition installer will detect the basic edition database and upgrade the tables to standard edition.
You can change the PHP files. However, it is also possible to add PHP snippets directly into the templates (see http://www.esselbach.com/review.php?id=4 for an example).
I suggest that you try the freeware version

Is it easy to upgrade to the Standard version from freeware, or would it be better to go ahead ans start with a Standard version install?

How about customization beyond the template system, is that possible?

Question regarding documentation
Thanks for your quick reply!
I haven't installed the freeware version yet, I should have our development server completed in a couple days.

Question regarding documentation
The current documentation is available in the support section: http://www.esselbach.com/page.php?id=7
We might add more guides in near future
About customizing:
You can easily customize the look and feel with the templates.
Did you install the freeware version? Then check out the site_header / site_footer templates in the templates section. Both templates are used for the main site layout.
The standard edition has also the ability to search the templates for specific words and a template preview function.
Let me know if you have any questions about customizing the templates

Howdy,
I'm putting together my first CMS web site for a friend and unfortunately have an extremely tight deadline. I already have vBulletins installed and working well.
Storyteller seems to be one of the best systems I've yet encountered in my searching for a CMS that integrates well with vBulletin.
I'm leaning towards purchasing an $88 licensed copy of Storyteller Standard, but I do have question:
Where might I find documentation (either official or 3rd party "fan sites") that would help me get started customizing the look and feel of the main pages? I have found an installation manual here on your web site, and I must say that it seems very good. I'm looking for more of the same. Now that I think about it more, I suppose the documentation might be integrated with the web apps...
Thanks,
B.
