"Featured story" is only to keep important stories on top.

To switch the entire main page to a single column layout:
1) Select "Other / Website" and click on the edit icon
2) Scroll down to "NEWS - Configure here the news on the front page"
3) Select "Two news columns?" => No

Then click on "Send" to save the new configuration. Now you can uncheck all featured stories

This is a known bug with the two column news display feature. The bug was fixed in the last update.

To install the update:
Download the latest zip or tar.gz from the members area and reupload upload/index.php
Also, you should keep only 1-2 features stories.

This needs a small modification in core.php.

To increase the character limit from 35 to 45, find:

$thisblock .= GetBlock($var, $var2, $var3, 35, 32, $website);

and replace with:

$thisblock .= GetBlock($var, $var2, $var3, 45, 42, $website);
