Lag after posting news
The original script is usual very low in the resource usage. Perhaps one of your modifications is causing this spike? However, 15-30 minutes seems a little long.
Btw please re-add the "Powered by" notice as requested by the license agreement. Feel free to customize the notice to fit your layout. Here two example: http://www.techspot.com (short text notice at bottom) and http://www.3dchips.net (graphical button on the right side). It is also possible to upgrade your current license to branding free in the members area.

Get a new server hosting company. Nothing wrong with the script - it's the hosting company you are dealing with as they obviously do not provide a good enough service.
http://www.webhostingtalk.com will probably help you.

Hi again!
we're getting severe lag after posting news stories to our web sites. The news posts fine in the admin page, but after logging out of admin, the main page won't load for 15-30 mins, sometimes longer!
According to the web hosts, there is a huge spike after posting news and trying to reload the page:
"As soon as a try to load or refresh business-business.biz the load spikes
for httpd until the page loads and then it goes back down."
