Installed Contentteller using german

To see what the language works like. Switched it to English, but the frontpage is still in German. I tried clearing the cache, but still only the admin section is now in English, the frontpage still uses German.

You need to create a new template set based on that language pack:
Templates => Manage Templates => Create a new template set and select your translated language under language

Frontend language

Yes, all this matches what i've already read in the threads and what i've then applied.

I mean:
- got the deutsche language file
- translated and renamed
- imported
- it is now appearing in Manage Languages with ID=6
- .. and now?

I'm sorry my english is not fluent.
The point is, my front end doesn't change from english... I know i'm giving an retarded impression about me..
Hope i'm not

There are two ways to create a translation:

1) You create a language pack

To create a language pack: Templates => Manage Languages => Create New Language pack

Now select edit on your newly created language pack to add languages snippets to the database.

For example, you want to translate “Posted by” to your language, you need to add “Posted by” in the “search for” field and the translation in the “and replace with” field.

Once you finished the translation, you can create a translated template set by choosing the language pack under Manage Templates => Create a new Template set

2) You translate the existing templates directly

You can edit the entire HTML output of your website in the template editor under Manage Templates

Frontend language

Sorry Philipp, but it is not much clear to me how to change the language for the frontend.
I've read every available post in this forum but i've found nothing solving for me...

- Translated german language found in this thread
- Renamed it
- Imported it
- Updated the template i'm using

I'm surely missing something..

Thanks

No, this is only if you used the preinstalled German translation. For any other translation you can create a language pack under Templates / Manage Languages.

So if I want to add a new language I have to do it on a different installation and then export it?

The admin section is using language files, but the main site is using translated templates. The installer automatically translates the template set during the installation.

The only way to change them back is either a reinstall of the CMS or an import of an English template set that you have previously exported.
