I am really interested in this product and would like to purchase it, however I've asked my HOSTED provider (Hostgator) if they provide support for InnoDB. Hostgator have said No, we dont except for the Dedicated servers which cost alot of money. I only have the basic Hosted account which I'm assuming most people will have. My question, therefore is what provider do people recommend to use the CMS product ? Alternatively, the IONCUBE version (which is still in development) can potentially be used with Hostgator but I would like to use a product that isn't a BETA. Can anyone help or give me some recommendations of what to do ?

What does the InnoDB do then, in terms of functionality if its can work without it, and then why is it in the requirments, does it allow additional functionality?

My main reason for choosing originally InnoDB was the overall higher reliability and performance in a high traffic environment. More information on the InnoDB storage engine is also available here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InnoDB

I think they're just trying to squeeze more money out of you. My host wants me to pay them for SSH access.

Philipp, thanks for such a quick response. So even though it says in its requirements (4.0.12+ with InnoDB recommended), the StoryTeller script will still work ? What does the InnoDB do then, in terms of functionality if its can work without it, and then why is it in the requirments, does it allow additional functionality?

InnoDB is a standard feature of the MySQL database server. I never heard before that a hosting company disabled this feature. However, Storyteller will also work on servers with disabled InnoDB.
