Is this able to pull threads from the forums, to display "Recent Discussion" on the homepage?

I will release some vB related blocks and extensions with the release of the first release candidate.

Also, what kind of integration does contentteller offer with vBulletin? Does it link to user profiles, ect ?

The default template will link to the profile pages of your Contentteller installation, which will pull the data from the vBulletin database. However, it is easily possible to link to the profiles of your vBulletin installation after everything HTML related can be changed with the templates.

The integration itself includes:
- Shared user database and login cookie
Contentteller will use vBulletin’s database for login

- Possibility to use forum threads for comments
You can choose a forum for comments rather then using the comment function. Contentteller will show the comments from this vBulletin thread also on your news page

- Profile integration
Contentteller can pull profile information including the avatar from the vB user database

- Invisible ban integration
Contentteller will use vBulletin’s "Tachy goes to Coventry" list to invisible ban users.

If users with Storyteller cannot import their current style, what are sites like MajorGeeks and TechSpot going to do, as they have both modified their homepage. Do they simple save all the templates, then paste back in once they have imported to Contentteller?

I don’t know what TechSpot will do but MajorGeeks will most likely port their existing style to XHTML/CSS

How many previews are there going to be? Is Contentteller going to be released this year?

Originally 4 but now 6 preview releases are planned. The next releases after the last preview release will be the release candidates and then the final release.

Contentteller is not a new version but a complete different product. It is only possible to import the data like news, articles etc. from the old Storyteller database.

No, the Contentteller code base is completely different. 99,98% of the code is newly written. There is no way to use any Storyteller code modification or template in the new product.

Will storyteller work with vB 3.7?

Most likely, after the vB 3.5 integration script was also compatible with vB 3.6. I will test it, as soon the first vBulletin 3.7 release candidate is available.

Contentteller Preview 5 officially support vB 3.7 but the integration is much deeper then in Storyteller.

The following modules are included: Acquire (Import module), Articles (for reviews and articles), Blocks (to manage the blocks left and right), CompatDB (a client for the CompatDB.org project), Contacts (to manage news contacts), Content (for pages and forms), Core (to manage some core settings), Files (to run a file/download website), Filetypes (to manage filetypes - needed for the attachment function), Glossary (a glossary), Import (to import data from RSS, Email or news servers), Knowledgebase (a FAQ/knowledgebase module), Links (a module for your web links/links pages), Mailinglists (a mailing lists module), Modules (a module to install/upgrade/remove modules – included in preview 5 and higher), news (a news/blog module), Online (a module to show online admins in the admin control panel), Stats (a module for web stats including page views, browsers, referrers etc.), Templates (a module to manage the templates and style of the website), Tickets (A trouble ticket module), and Users (a module to manage user accounts).

It is quite easy to modify the templates in Contentteller. In most cases you only need to alter two templates (site_header/site_footer) after the entire appearance of the website can be changed with CSS. There are no demos until the official Contentteller website will be launched.

Yes and Yes.

The downloadable preview 4 is the current release. The two main differences (beside bugfixes and smaller enhancements) between the current preview 4 and the release candidate/final release is that the preview release is encoded and expires.

I'm running PHP version 4.4.7 ... would it be better for me to upgrade to 5.0?

This makes no real difference with the initial version of Contentteller. However, future release of Contentteller will use most likely use more PHP 5 functions.

Contentteller is an entire different product. You can only import the data from an existing Storyteller database but not the layout/templates.

TechSpot have heavily customized the layout. With the templates it is possible to changed the appearance of the entire website to fit your needs.

No, but it is very close. The test installation on  Warp2Search exceeds my expectations.

The Windows installer is uploading all needed files to the webserver. There is no FTP client required.

The installer is looking for the ipf-work-dir-1203012203 subdirectory inside of your test directory, which has been created on your webserver during the initial installation. The installer fails if this subdirectory is not reachable over the web.

Maybe you didn't select the proper FTP path and the installer uploads the ipf-work-dir-1203012203 directory to the wrong location? Also, please use an empty directory for the files.

Yes. This could be done with PHP scripts inside the templates. However, this is much easier with the block feature in Contentteller

Sound like a permission problem. Have you set all directory permissions?

The install script shows permission problems in most cases properly but not under all circumstances. There are lately a lot of changes in some PHP setups. For example, many webhosts switching from mod_php (the apache php module) to the more secure CGI/FastCGI.

If you plan to install/buy Contentteller I would suggest installing the current preview release instead.

One more question, does it have a guides/articles page?

Yes, there is a reviews/articles module for that purpose.

That depends on your needs. I would suggest that you try it in a test installation.

The best location would be the main (/) directory.

You must upload storyteller to a different directory.

Yes, everything can be done with the templates, but you need some HTML knowledge.

No, I am afraid there is currently no online demo after the project is in the middle of transformation. The successor product (Contentteller) will be launched in a not so far future and have currently my highest priority.

However, there are downloadable versions. Both a freeware version of Storyteller CMS and a preview version of Contentteller can be downloaded  here.

The freeware version of Storyteller CMS is a slightly feature limited version of the paid version but fully usable, while the preview version of Contentteller is a time limited beta software that requires ionCube loader or Zend Optimizer installed on the server.

Can you make page integrations with it?

You can easily port your existing design to Storyteller/Contentteller. Both products have a style/template editor for that purpose.
