I will release some vB related blocks and extensions with the release of the first release candidate.
The default template will link to the profile pages of your Contentteller installation, which will pull the data from the vBulletin database. However, it is easily possible to link to the profiles of your vBulletin installation after everything HTML related can be changed with the templates.
The integration itself includes:
- Shared user database and login cookie
Contentteller will use vBulletin’s database for login
- Possibility to use forum threads for comments
You can choose a forum for comments rather then using the comment function. Contentteller will show the comments from this vBulletin thread also on your news page
- Profile integration
Contentteller can pull profile information including the avatar from the vB user database
- Invisible ban integration
Contentteller will use vBulletin’s "Tachy goes to Coventry" list to invisible ban users.
Is this able to pull threads from the forums, to display "Recent Discussion" on the homepage?
I will release some vB related blocks and extensions with the release of the first release candidate.
Also, what kind of integration does contentteller offer with vBulletin? Does it link to user profiles, ect ?

Hi Phillip,
You say that Contentteller has a block feature, for easier management of blocks. Is this able to pull threads from the forums, to display "Recent Discussion" on the homepage? Also, what kind of integration does contentteller offer with vBulletin? Does it link to user profiles, ect ?

I don’t know what TechSpot will do but MajorGeeks will most likely port their existing style to XHTML/CSS
Originally 4 but now 6 preview releases are planned. The next releases after the last preview release will be the release candidates and then the final release.
If users with Storyteller cannot import their current style, what are sites like MajorGeeks and TechSpot going to do, as they have both modified their homepage. Do they simple save all the templates, then paste back in once they have imported to Contentteller?

How many previews are there going to be? Is Contentteller going to be released this year?

Contentteller is not a new version but a complete different product. It is only possible to import the data like news, articles etc. from the old Storyteller database.
No, the Contentteller code base is completely different. 99,98% of the code is newly written. There is no way to use any Storyteller code modification or template in the new product.
Most likely, after the vB 3.5 integration script was also compatible with vB 3.6. I will test it, as soon the first vBulletin 3.7 release candidate is available.
Contentteller Preview 5 officially support vB 3.7 but the integration is much deeper then in Storyteller.
Would I be able to purchase Storyteller now, modify it to my needs ect...then once Contentteller is released, import all current settings ect. to Contentteller?

Does it import all modified code and keep the layout that you modify it too? I'm pretty sure it must, as many members have modified theres.

The following modules are included: Acquire (Import module), Articles (for reviews and articles), Blocks (to manage the blocks left and right), CompatDB (a client for the CompatDB.org project), Contacts (to manage news contacts), Content (for pages and forms), Core (to manage some core settings), Files (to run a file/download website), Filetypes (to manage filetypes - needed for the attachment function), Glossary (a glossary), Import (to import data from RSS, Email or news servers), Knowledgebase (a FAQ/knowledgebase module), Links (a module for your web links/links pages), Mailinglists (a mailing lists module), Modules (a module to install/upgrade/remove modules – included in preview 5 and higher), news (a news/blog module), Online (a module to show online admins in the admin control panel), Stats (a module for web stats including page views, browsers, referrers etc.), Templates (a module to manage the templates and style of the website), Tickets (A trouble ticket module), and Users (a module to manage user accounts).
It is quite easy to modify the templates in Contentteller. In most cases you only need to alter two templates (site_header/site_footer) after the entire appearance of the website can be changed with CSS. There are no demos until the official Contentteller website will be launched.
Yes and Yes.
The downloadable preview 4 is the current release. The two main differences (beside bugfixes and smaller enhancements) between the current preview 4 and the release candidate/final release is that the preview release is encoded and expires.
This makes no real difference with the initial version of Contentteller. However, future release of Contentteller will use most likely use more PHP 5 functions.
Please could you list me the modules that Contentteller includes, and how easy is it to modify in the templates? Is there a list of templates Contentteller uses that you could list for me? Are there any demos of the modules, such as downloads ect.

Are you looking to have Contentteller officially released in the upcoming months, and will it provide compatibility for vBulletin 3.7.0 once it goes GOLD?
Yes and Yes.
Do you have any DEMO download, that I can use and see how an actual install goes? If I was installing it too the root of my domain, so I wanted it to be at: www.mydomain.com .... then I just upload all files to the /public_html? Is the installation like the vB script, any online manuals?

Contentteller should work with PHP 4.1.2/MySQL 3.23 or higher
Yes, after the requirements are similar to vBulletin
What are the minimum requirements, both PHP and mySQL?

Contentteller is an entire different product. You can only import the data from an existing Storyteller database but not the layout/templates.
TechSpot have heavily customized the layout. With the templates it is possible to changed the appearance of the entire website to fit your needs.
No, but it is very close. The test installation on Warp2Search exceeds my expectations.
I will publish the pricing for Contentteller sometime next month. Storyteller customers will get the commercial version of Contentteller for free and to similar conditions like their existing Storyteller license.
I'm going to be purchasing Storyteller very soon, I will then upgrade to Contentteller when it is officially released. If I make the changes to Storyteller, will they remain the same when I do upgrade to Contentteller? Such as downloads, layout ect..

Also, what does the downloads module look like, it is like TechSpots? - http://www.techspot.com/downloads.html
Also, can you add a navbar along the top, like TechSpot have?
Finally, does the guides module look like this? - http://www.techspot.com/guides.shtml

I almost forget, how much is Contentteller going to be when it is released, same as Storyteller ($99) I presume?

The Windows installer is uploading all needed files to the webserver. There is no FTP client required.
The installer is looking for the ipf-work-dir-1203012203 subdirectory inside of your test directory, which has been created on your webserver during the initial installation. The installer fails if this subdirectory is not reachable over the web.
Maybe you didn't select the proper FTP path and the installer uploads the ipf-work-dir-1203012203 directory to the wrong location? Also, please use an empty directory for the files.

I hope to get the release candidate out later next month. The release candidates will be almost identically with the final version. The only difference is that the final will have fewer bugs
Yes. This could be done with PHP scripts inside the templates. However, this is much easier with the block feature in Contentteller
Sound like a permission problem. Have you set all directory permissions?
The install script shows permission problems in most cases properly but not under all circumstances. There are lately a lot of changes in some PHP setups. For example, many webhosts switching from mod_php (the apache php module) to the more secure CGI/FastCGI.
If you plan to install/buy Contentteller I would suggest installing the current preview release instead.
Yes, there is a reviews/articles module for that purpose.
Is there an expected release date for Contentteller? -- as I want to purchase this soon.

I'm having some pages coded, one including a news page, how would I get the latest news we post to display down that page?
Also, on techspot, they have a weekly poll, and little tables down the side, such as 'Hot Stories' ect, is that achievable with StoryTeller?

That depends on your needs. I would suggest that you try it in a test installation.
The best location would be the main (/) directory.
Contentteller is the successor product of Storyteller and a complete new code base. It will replace Storyteller in the long run. All existing Storyteller customers can upgrade to the final version of Contentteller Pro for free once it is released.
No, this is coded by TechSpot.
Do you think it's best waiting until 3.7 goes GOLD?
That depends on your needs. I would suggest that you try it in a test installation.
So, when I purchase it, and I want it on my live forum, what directory can it go? my forums directory is /forum.
The best location would be the main (/) directory.
Finally, what's the difference between Contentteller and storyteller?

Is that what the news page is like, or is that what TS have coded their selves?
No, this is coded by TechSpot.

Do you think it's best waiting until 3.7 goes GOLD?
So, when I purchase it, and I want it on my live forum, what directory can it go?
my forums directory is /forum.
Finally, what's the difference between Contentteller and storyteller?
Regards Jason

You must upload storyteller to a different directory.
Yes, everything can be done with the templates, but you need some HTML knowledge.
I have not tried it with the new 3.7 Beta yet, but it will most likely work without modification.
No, Storyteller must always be upload to it’s own directory.
I would suggest:
/test = Storyteller test installation
/test/forums = vBulletin test installation
I don't have shell access, so do I just upload them in different directory to my forums, or the same?

Also, does it allow you to give it a coloured background, like Techspot have done?

I forgot to ask, I'm running vBulletin 3.7 BETA 4, does it work on that?

So, If I'm installing it on a test board first, which is in the directory /vbtest, it will just go in there?

Hallo Jason,
You can purchase the CMS here:
https://www.regsoft.net/regsoft/vieworderpage.php3?productid=60111
TechSpot is using Storyteller CMS for the front page
Yes, most setting can be configured in the admin control panel. The only exceptions are the bbwrappers, the scripts that can bridge forums such as vBulletin with Storyteller CMS. A few guides are available here
You can get it from here using your existing login:
http://www.esselbach.com/area.html
Yes, PayPal in an option on the order form
$99. The license is for use on 3 domains and include 1 year of free updates. Another year of updates can be purchased later for $28/year.
Let me know if you have any additional questions

Does it have an admin control panel where it's all configurable and is there a manual with it?

It is suitable for every website.
No, I am afraid there is currently no online demo after the project is in the middle of transformation. The successor product (Contentteller) will be launched in a not so far future and have currently my highest priority.
However, there are downloadable versions. Both a freeware version of Storyteller CMS and a preview version of Contentteller can be downloaded here.
The freeware version of Storyteller CMS is a slightly feature limited version of the paid version but fully usable, while the preview version of Contentteller is a time limited beta software that requires ionCube loader or Zend Optimizer installed on the server.
You can easily port your existing design to Storyteller/Contentteller. Both products have a style/template editor for that purpose.
Is this aimed at big sites, i.e a lot of members, or can a site, say 140 member use this?

Is there a demo I can try anywhere?

Hello,
I'm new here, and I want to know what ESSELBACH is all about.
I see that MajorGeeks uses it, so I thought I'd check it out.
Is it for making an homepage? If I had a tutorials page, seperated into categories, would I be able to use ESSELBACH as an homepage, then have the latest tutorials to show on the homepage?
Regards Jason
