There were 50+ bugs in the initial Test 0 release . I am still working on bug fixes and other enhancements.
It is very likely that the public beta test is starting in late January.

A first internal release (Test 0) was released last week and another one (Test 1) is coming in a few days. It currently look like that Test 2 will be available to all customers.
Test 2 will only include the core modules (users, content, templates etc) and the article modules (news, reviews). Each new test release will introduce new modules and bug fixes. For example: Test 3 will include the FAQ and support modules.
A bit better but it is still a long way.
What is the status of the build

I hope to get the first private/internal test release out sometime next month. I haven't worked that much on that release over the last few weeks because of the illness of my mother.

Public testing will follow after there are no serious problems during the internal testing phase.
Unfortunately, I don't know when the public version will be ready because my mother become very ill and can't currently work full time on the new version because of this . I will do my best to get this release out as soon as possible.

love the channel system, it is a major asset for those of us who like information to be easy to find and not hidden away, a huge big thumbs up for that one.
You mention this is an internal test phase, when might a few of us be able to try out a beta? i'd like to help in this respect.

Ok, here two more screenshots, both from the new "Add new story" page.
http://www.esselbach.com/images/st2news1.jpg
This is the header of the new "Add new story" page. One significant change is that we have now channels instead of categories. The difference? A news item can be published to multiple channels, while the old system allowed only a single category per news item.

This screenshot is the footer of the page and shows the new inline attachment function. Each news story has it’s own attachments.

I don't know but I do my best to get this out as fast as possible. Unfortunately, there are always some some showstoppers. For example, I discovered this week a serious performance issue in the new template system which will requires some code rewrites to get fixed
anyhow, do you think we'll see a public beta before september?

Me to, I'm waiting until it's released before starting to work on my new website design as there's no sense in starting with v1 when v2 is just around the corner. Hope we see the beta in August.

I actually jumped ship a while back with the original Mac Mini. I don't use it too often though because I prefer to use a much more powerful desktop I have running Windows and I have everything setup in there.
So the Mac Mini was supposed to be my first experience with Mac OS X (last time I had used a Mac was in version 8 I think). But I find its speed to be just adequate, videocard is lacking for a big monitor/high resolution. And well, it wasn't money well spent to have newer models running Windows, too, and on a much more powerful hardware...

Great so far, it is a pleasure to work under MacOS X
I like both. Actually, I have already 3 Macs: The PowerMac G5 in the office, a MacMini at home and an iBook.
Are you interested to buy a Mac? You know, the new Intel based Macs support a dual boot setup with Windows XP, so you can use both operating systems. I would definitely get a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor, after MacOS is running on two core machines quite nicely.
How is that working for you?

I assume you like the OS part and not really the hardware..?

Esselbach Storyteller CMS 1.8.2 is now available in the members area. This release is primary a compatibility fix for MySQL 5.0.
The following files have been changed since 1.8.1c:
cadmin/
index.php
mod_admin.php
mod_words.php
An updated freeware version (1.7.2e) is also available and includes now also the bbwrappers for vBulletin 3.5, Invision PowerBoard 2.1, MyBB 1.0, UseBB 0.7, and Burning Board 2.3.
>> Members Area
What’s next?
Version 1.8.2 is most likely the last version of the 1.x series. The development is currently primary focused on version 2.0, which is a full rewrite from scratch.
http://www.esselbach.com/images/ct2dec.jpg
Here the current development roadmap for 2.0:
2.0 PHASE 1 (January 2006)
This release is an internal technical beta release to test the new code base in a real world environment.
2.0 PHASE 2 (February/March 2006)
This second beta will extend the beta test to external testers. This release is 90% code complete.
2.0 PHASE 3 (TBA)
The third and final beta is basically a code complete release candidate. The only difference between the final release and this beta are some bug fixes.
As promised before, 2.0 is free for all Storyteller license holders. I just extended the member area access for all expired licenses to 2nd January 2007 and for all 2005 licenses/renewals to 2nd January 2008.
