Error: 1067 Invalid default value for 'forum_category'

I have wrestled with the installation for two days. On running cinstall and submitting I get:

Error: 1067 Invalid default value for 'forum_category'

If I back tab, check my entries and resubmit I get a 1050 table already exists. I can clear this by deleting the database and setting it up again but then I revert to error message 1.

What am I doing wrong please?

This was an incompatibility with MySQL 5 that was fixed in 1.7.2e
