Contentteller CMS editions and pricing

As you know Contentteller CMS is getting closer to its release. The official Contenteller CMS website as well a first release candidate will be released in a few days, so it is time to announce the upcoming editions and pricing of Contentteller CMS

Editions

Contentteller CMS will be released in three different editions to fit any need and purpose:

Contentteller CMS Community Edition (Open Source)
Contentteller CMS Professional Edition (Commercial)
Contentteller CMS Business Edition (Commercial)

The open source version and the commercial edition will have a different version numbering. While the open source will keep the traditional versions numbers (e.g. 1.0, 1,1, etc.) the commercial releases will use years with revision numbers (e.g. 2008.0, 2008.1, etc.) to keep better track on the releases.

Here the editions in detail:

Contentteller CMS Community Edition

The community edition is a free open source version of the Contentteller CMS that is licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. This version will feature always the latest modules and enhancements. It is basically a test bad for latest Contentteller developments before they hit the commercial branch.

Unlike the commercial version, this open source version is not officially supported at all. You also need to keep a “Managed with Contentteller” notice on each page.

Contentteller CMS Professional Edition

The commercial version of Contentteller CMS is all about long-term support and stability. Every major version of Contentteller CMS Professional Edition will be supported for 3 years after it’s initial release. Instead of rushing out the latest updates, the commercial version focus on highest possible stability. Minor updates will be also provided as downloadable hot fixes to make updates painless as possible.

Additionally, this release comes with email support for installation and emergency; extended support over private customer forums, optional automated Windows installer (same as in the current preview releases), and the “Managed with Contentteller” notice can be removed.

This license is available for €149 excl. VAT and includes 1 year access to the download and support section. Additional licenses can be purchased for each €79 excl. VAT. Another year of update access can be ordered later for €39 excl. VAT. The update access is valid for all your licenses in your account; it is not necessary to renew each license separately.

Contentteller CMS Business Edition

The business edition of Contentteller CMS offers an even longer lifetime and more support options over the Professional Edition. Every major version of Contentteller CMS Business Edition will be supported for at least 5 years after it’s initial release. Additionally, email request from business customers will be prioritized and 3 hours advanced email support is included for free.

This license is available for €299 excl. VAT and includes 1 year access to the download and support section. Additional licenses can be purchased for each €149 excl. VAT. Another year of update access and reset of the 3 hours advanced email support is €79 excl. VAT.

Upgrade for current Storyteller CMS customers

As promised before current Storyteller CMS customers will receive the commercial version of Contentteller CMS for free additionally to their current Storyteller CMS license.

Here the upgrade chart:
Storyteller CMS Pro = Contentteller CMS Professional Edition with 2 additional licenses
Storyteller CMS Pro + Branding free option = Contentteller CMS Business Edition with 2 additional licenses
Storyteller CMS Network = Contentteller CMS Business Edition with 98 additional licenses

Any additional Storyteller domain license will be added as additional Contentteller license.

Every Contentteller license for current customers comes with 1 year of free updates. Another year of updates is only €25 excl. VAT for both professional and business licenses.

how does the upgrade work? can we use both storyteller and CT as different products or is this just for upgrading?

Storyteller/Contentteller are two different products under different service/license agreements

basically, can i have a website on my old storyteller licence, and create a new site using CT on a different domain?

Yes

What is the website limit on the Open Source version?

None. You can run the open source version on as many websites as you like.

And it looks like it would be cheaper to buy a license now on the old system for the free upgrade to the newer?

Indeed
